TODDLER TEACHER
ChildRoots is a small family of locally- and woman-owned child care centers in Portland, Oregon. We see children as authentic, powerful individuals, and our mission is to guide their social and emotional development and to foster a sense of wonder about the world around them. Our awe-inspiring classrooms are child-focused and designed to provoke curiosity and encourage inquiry, but it’s our Teachers and support staff who make ChildRoots truly outstanding.
We’re currently recruiting Toddler Teachers to work at our Southeast and Northwest Centers.
To be considered for a role at ChildRoots, you MUST BE teacher-qualified, which means you meet at least one of these Office of Child Care requirements.
A ChildRoots Toddler Teacher works 8 hours per day, Monday – Friday, offering primary care for 5 children. A cornerstone of our educational philosophy is a strong, consistent bond between child and caregiver, and this is our youngest cohort of children, so we need this Teacher to stay with us for at least a year, if not more.
All ChildRoots Teachers start at $20.00 + Step level raise/hour and are eligible for standardized annual raises and long-term commitment bonuses. Other centers and programs offer variable starting wages, but we’re committed to equal pay for equal work. When you receive a ChildRoots job offer, you won’t have to negotiate your wage or wonder how your offer compares to others’.
In the classroom, children’s needs are our primary focus, but – now more than ever - we recognize how much help and encouragement our employees need, too. On a day-to-day basis, we try to truly see each other and to offer emotional support and stability whenever we can. We’re immensely grateful to our employees for not only showing up every day, but for bringing their best selves.
One of the ways we show up for our employees is by offering excellent health/vision insurance (we pay 80% of the cost), dental insurance (we pay 80%), life insurance (we pay 100%) and a 401(k) retirement savings plan with a generous company match. We also offer paid Holidays, a weeklong Winter Break, and opportunities for professional development throughout the year to help everyone meet the Office of Child Care’s continuing education requirements.
To be considered for a role at ChildRoots, you MUST BE CURRENTLY ENROLLED in Oregon's Central Background Registry. If you're not already enrolled, start your application today and complete your application to work with us after you receive your enrollment confirmation.
Oregon’s Safety Set Trainings and other certifications are also REQUIRED to be considered for a role at ChildRoots:
